CIS's anonymity during the decade of its existence contributed to the transitory character of its legacy. This website is an attempt to remedy that.

CIS had a huge impact at the time and many journalists, trade unionists and academics will remember the CIS Reports with affection.  Its constant, persistent and insightful exposure of big business laid the foundation for many workplace, community and environmental campaigns. Its anti racist, anti sexist and ruthlessly egalitarian approach helped to improve conditions in the UK workplace.

A number of the CIS publications produced in the 1970s are available here either entirely or in part as Pdf files. Hard copies of the reports can be found in some trade union and university libraries and on the internet. A small number are available here on request.
