HIGHNESS Jubilee Anti-Report

1977 was the year of the Queen's Silver Jubilee.

The 'Highness' Jubilee anti-report had a joint launch with the Sex Pistol's 'No Future'.

Mass Observation reported a low level of anti-jubilee protest in England, 'Highness' being the notable exception.

A bookshop displaying it in London's Charing Cross had it's window broken.

Forget the bankers, in the early 1970s it was the property tycoons that ran the show. Vast fortunes were made replacing inner city housing with office blocks at huge social cost. Prime Minister Ted Heath called it the 'unacceptable face of capitalism' .

It didn't make any difference. But this Anti-Report did. Mass protests against the developers saved Covent Garden and Tolmers Square in London.
